What is osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a holistic system of diagnosis & treatment of musculoskeletal issues, based on the theory that if the structure of one small part of the body is 'out of line' it cannot work at its best and will therefore be in a state of 'dysfunction'.

Like dominoes, this has a knock on effect.
In order to compensate for this ‘dysfunction’, the body will make changes in other areas to try to work around it, such as postural adaptations.

The body is very clever at making these adjustments and it all sounds great…
but what happens to the poor muscles that are now pulling on one side more than the other? What about the nerves and blood vessels that are being ‘compressed’?

Osteopaths aim to achieve balance in the body's structure to bring about optimum function and reduce pain using a wide range of techniques, including soft tissue massage, articulation, manipulation and exercise advice, to name just a few tools in the osteopathic toolkit!

Osteopaths are regulated by the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) and must be fully insured.
